A Microphone that Lets You Match the Audio with the Visual

The SMX-30V is a microphone designed with a completely new concept of letting you mix the stereo and monaural sounds freely so that you can capture the audio that matches your visual. The mixing dial will let you choose from 100% stereo or 100% mono or anywhere in between. As you cleanly capture the subject’s voice with the mono capsule, you can give the audio some realistic effect by adding a bit of stereo that will pick up the ambient sounds. When you are shooting a scene that calls for stereo sound, you can tighten up the audio by adding a little bit of mono to the mix. The possibilities are endless. Many of us are forced to work with limited resources in equipment, staff or time. The SMX-30V, which lets you freely adjust your audio without a mixer or post work, is a microphone that will free you from your limitations.

一眼カメラによる動画が全盛となったこの時代、カメラの目覚ましい進化のなかで「音を録る」ということはあまり注目されずに見過ごされてきました。音には空間演出としての役割があり、豊かな音像は美しい一眼動画の映像を引き立たせます。SMX-30Vが持つステレオとモノラルのミックス機能を活用すれば、レンズの画角やボケ味の変化に合わせた画像に音像をマッチングさせた、より上質な動画制作を楽しめます。

1 広角レンズで撮影

フルフレームセンサーで21mmの画角。ダイナミックワイド感も一眼動画の強みの一つ。モノラルマイクでは情景の豊かな音を捉えられないが、ステレオマイクでは人物の声がぼやけてしまう。モノラルに適度なステレオ音を足すことで、豊かな環境音の中にも芯のある音像を作ることが出来る。画角と音の適度なマッチングが作り出せます。
2 絞り込んで撮影

写真の様な解像感を求めて、絞り込んで撮影すれば画面の中に沢山の情報を集める事が出来る。人物の声がぼやけない程度にステレオマイクで環境を足していく事で、目と耳で情景を感じとる事が出来ます。
3 背景をボカして撮影

一眼動画の真骨頂はまさにこのボケ味だ。ボカす事で目に飛び込んでくる情報は整理されるが、奥に感じる背景は音でも感じさせたい。モノラルマイクに少しだけステレオマイクの環境音を足すことで、ボケ味を邪魔することなく、音で適度な情景を感じさせる事が出来ます。
4 首振り機構を有効活用

広角レンズでダイナミックな構図を活かして撮影できるのも一眼カメラの魅力だが、マイクが被写体を捉えていなければマイクの芯で音で捉えることができない。SMX-30Vの首振り機構により画面端の被写体の音を芯で捉え、明らかに音の明瞭感が高まります。

The new swivel function in the mount

When the subject is located near the edge of the visual field, the swivel function in the mount lets you point the microphone towards the subject without changing the position of your camera, via a horizontal rotation adjustment of approximately 30 degrees to the left or right. This feature enables you to precisely capture audio regardless of where in the visual field the subject is positioned.

Battery Life Extended to 100 Hours

A breakthrough in battery life was achieved as an added benefit from the development of the all new stereo/mono mixing circuitry. The battery life for the SMX-30V is up to 100 hours, which is a huge improvement from 24 hours for the previous models.The battery LED lights up to warn you when you have about 1hour of battery life left.

Low-Cut Filter

Reduces low-frequency noise. A helpful tool for mitigating noise from HVAC systems or wind.

Auto Power

Setting to AUTO will turn the microphone on and off with your camera automatically, saving you from losing a great take and conserving battery.

Three-steps Gain Control

The SMX-30V has three gain settings: +20dB, 0dB and -10dB. The +20dB setting is best for recording interviews and events in a quiet environment. With your camera gain setting adjusted to a lower level, the +20dB setting can turn down the gain of your camera's preamp to significantly reduce the noise it produces. The -10dB setting prevents against distortion in a loud environment, well suited for recording concerts, sporting events and other big sounds.

Vibration Isolating Shock Mount

Made from a virtually unbreakable composite material, the shock mount effectively isolates the microphone from the vibrations created by handling a camera. Designed to mount on top of a camera’s cold shoe, a threaded ¼”-20 tap is also available for boompole and accessory bar mounting.Noises from cable movement may be alleviated by securing it to the notch in mount.
